The Hoosier Hikers of South Bend, Indiana, propose to host a six and twelve -kilometer Volksmarch on <br />public properties in the City of South Bend. The event will be conducted under the auspices of the <br />American Volkssport Association (AVA)and the International Volkssport Verbund (IVV). The purpose of <br />the event is to promote health, personal fitness and fellowship through participation in non-competitive <br />sporting events. The event will be recognized as an IVV sanctioned event, which will allow participants <br />to earn IVV credit toward IVV event and distance awards. <br />Participation in the event is open to the public without cost. A fee of $3.00 will be assessed individuals <br />seeking to receive IVV credit for participation in the event. A fee of $7.00 or $8.00 will be assessed <br />individuals seeking to receive IVV credit and a special award for participation in the event. Incidental <br />items, i.e. IVV record books and awards from previous, may also be sold. <br />A hot or cold beverage and fruit, candy or cookies may be provided without cost to participants at the <br />start/finish point and at checkpoints along the routes. NO alcoholic beverages will be served or allowed. <br />The use of tobacco products will be banned in accordance with local ordinances and state law. <br />The trail routes will start at Howard Park. The route may be laid -out and marked with signs and <br />engineer tape, which will be removed upon conclusion of the event. Along the routes up to two <br />checkpoints may be set-up and operated by members of the Hoosier Hikers. One may be in Leeper Park, <br />and one may be in the vicinity of Brownfield Park, Camp Rose or the entrance to the City Cemetery. <br />The marking of the route, if done, and set-up of the start/finish and checkpoints will be done the <br />morning of the event. Participants may start the trail between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to be completed by 6 <br />p.m. <br />All costs for the staging of the event will be borne by the Hoosier Hikers. The Club and its members are <br />responsible for the set-up, conduct and clean-up associated with the event. <br />General liability insurance for the event will be provided by United States Fire Insurance Company under <br />policies numbered SRPGP-101-0715 and US473485. The City of South Bend, Board of Park <br />Commissioners and Board of Public Works are added as additional insureds for this event. Copies of the <br />certificates of insurance are provided with this request. Participants will also be required to sign a <br />waiver, a copy of which is provided. <br />
