Nwokah, 517 East Colfax Avenue, South Bend, Indiana. <br />owner <br />Mr. <br />Mr. Thompson stated that henceforth the rights and business which <br />has been built by the Independent Cab Company, along with the <br />Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity, is transferred to <br />Mr. Chika C. Nwokah, to operate the University Cab Company. <br />Mrs. Mueller noted that the Municipal Code allows Certificates of <br />Public Convenience and Necessity to be transferred with the <br />approval of the Board of Public Works. Mrs. Mueller reminded <br />members of the Board that on October 12, 1992, the Board denied <br />the Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for Mr. Nwokah <br />to operate the University Cab Company. At that time the Board <br />declared a moratorium on the issuance of anymore Certificates <br />until the ordinance could be reviewed by the Legal Department. <br />Mrs. Mueller stated that she has been working on the revision of <br />the ordinance since that time. <br />The Board was advised that Mr. Nwokah recently lost his job with <br />the Courtesy Cab Company and Mr. Grady Thompson has been <br />interested in selling his business. Mrs. Mueller advised that Mr. <br />Nwokah has secured a properly zoned location for the operation of <br />this business and will be advised that he must publish the taxicab <br />rates in two (2) newspapers and file his rates with the Board as <br />well as license all the taxicabs he intends to utilize. Mrs. <br />Mueller indicated to members of the Board that she sees no reason <br />not to approve this transfer. <br />Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the transfer be <br />accepted and approved. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />FILING OF NEW TAXICAB RATES - YELLOW CAB COMPANY OF SOUTH BEND <br />Mr. Michael A. Liss, President, Yellow Cab Company of South Bend, <br />710 North Niles Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, submitted to the <br />Board Proofs of Publication of the filing of new taxicab rates in <br />the South Bend and the Tri-County News to be effective August 26, <br />1993. Pursuant to licensing requirements of the Municipal Code, <br />the new rates have also been submitted to the Board for filing and <br />are as follows: <br />$2.00 flag drop <br />$ .20 for each additional 1/5th mile ($1.00 per mile) <br />$1.00 per mile for out of town trips <br />$12.00 per hour waiting time <br />No minimum charge in town and Roseland <br />Small package delivery rate - including grocery stores and <br />laundromats - Meter rate - $3.50 minimum <br />Special rates - Notre Dame/St. Mary's to/from airport/South <br />Shore/Amtrack - 1 passenger - meter rate <br />Two (2) to five (5) passengers - $5.00 per person <br />
