<br />UNFAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE PROPERTY
<br />Mr. Gilot indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition as
<br />completed by Mr. Donald Kelly, Post Office Box 526, Mishawaka, Indiana to vacate the following
<br />alley:
<br />Eclipse Place from the north R /W of Hamilton Street for a distance of 739.2 feet and a width
<br />of 30 feet. Part of Vernon Heights Addition to the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County,
<br />Indiana.
<br />First north/south alley west of Kaley Street from the north R /W of Marquette Blvd. to the
<br />south R/W of Hamilton Street for a distance of 739.2 feet and a width of 14 feet. Part of
<br />Vernon Heights Addition to the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana.
<br />Mr. Gilot advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this Vacation
<br />Petition from the Police Department, Fire Department, Area Plan Commission, Sanitation, and the
<br />Department of Economic Development, subject to any utility easements that may be required. The
<br />Division ofEngineering has stated that this vacation would create a dead end to Marquette Boulevard.
<br />The petition eliminates access to Lots 483, 482, 481, 451, 452, 453, 454, 455, 456, 457 and 458.
<br />Therefore, Mr. Gilot made a motion that the Board send an unfavorable recommendation to the
<br />Common Council concerning this Vacation Petition. Mr. Inks seconded the motion which carried.
<br />DENIAL OF CLOSING OF STREET - 20TH STREET FROM VINE TO PLEASANT - WEDDING
<br />RECEPTION PARKING
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that an unfavorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Colleen Donnelly, 601 Somerset, Mishawaka, Indiana, to close 20r' Street for a wedding
<br />reception parking, on November 15, 2000, from 12:00 noon until 11:00 p.m. This is a major
<br />thoroughfare for the University of South Bend and cannot be closed. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Gilot, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the recommendation to deny the closing of 20' Street was
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF 2001 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR CITY EMPLOYEES
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Inks, the following 2001 Holiday Schedule for
<br />City employees was approved. The schedule consists of nine (9) designated holidays and one (1)
<br />floating holiday.
