<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY -
<br />INSTALLATION OF SIGN - 1602 MISHAWAKA AVENUE
<br />Mr. Gilot advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations from the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department, Building Commissioner and the Redevelopment Design Review
<br />Committee for the installation of a sign at 1602 Mishawaka Avenue. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT FAMILY BIKE RIDE
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering,
<br />Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr.
<br />Thomas Jenkins, Post Office Box 335, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct the above referred to bike
<br />ride on June 22, 2002, beginning at 8:00 a.m. on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion
<br />made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - NORTH MICHIGAN FROM
<br />LASALLE HOTEL TO COLFAX STREET - "FRIDAYS BY THE FOUNTAIN"
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering,
<br />Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms.
<br />Susan Halteman, Morris Performing Arts Center, 211 North Michigan, South Bend, Indiana, to
<br />conduct the above referred to events on June 21 and 28, July 12, 19 and 26, August 2, 16 and 23,
<br />2002, from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks
<br />and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 30-2002 - INTENT TO NAME THE PROPERTY AT 839 SOUTH
<br />BEND AVENUE, SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, THE ARTHUR QUIGLEY PARK
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the following Resolution was
<br />adopted by the Board of Public Works:
<br />RESOLUTION NO. 30-2002
<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY
<br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, DECLARING ITS INTENT TO NAME
<br />THE PROPERTY AT 839 SOUTH BEND AVENUE, SOUTH BEND, INDIANA,
<br />THE ARTHUR QUIGLEY PARK
<br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend seeks to honor the memory of Arthur Quigley, who
<br />served for twenty years as President of the Northeast Neighborhood Council within the City of South
<br />Bend;
<br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend recognizes that Arthur Quigley devoted his time and
<br />talents to numerous community projects and organizations, including Christmas in April and Real
<br />Services;
<br />WHEREAS, the property at 839 South Bend Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, is a park area
<br />owned by the City of South Bend and is situated within the neighborhood to which Arthur Quigley
<br />devoted so much of his time and talents for over fifty years;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works ofthe City of South
<br />Bend, Indiana, as follows:
<br />1) That the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana, hereby expresses
<br />its desire and intent to name the premises at Lot 1, C.L. Hodson's Subdivision of Lot 24 and 25,
<br />Sorin's Is` Addition, Key Number 18 5032 1151, commonly known as 839 South Bend Avenue,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, as Arthur Quigley Park.
<br />2) That the Board directs and authorizes that a Resolution be filed with the City Clerk
<br />for consideration by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, to establish that the
<br />premises described above shall be named Arthur Quigley Park.
