Side gabled roof with gable returns and simple <br />entablature. The roof is covered with asphalt shingles, 8/8 double hung wood windows with ornamental louvered <br />shutters. On the south of the home, there is a one-story porch wing with flat roof and diamond pattered wood <br />railing. Porch wing facade has plain entablature and plain pilasters, enclosed with sliding glass doors and pergola. <br />Attached two car garage is on the south end of the home. <br />DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: The applicant has requested approval to: <br />1) Replace 6 windows in porch with shorter windows and install paneled knee wall under new windows. <br />2) Replace sliding glass door on south side of porch with aluminum clad wood. <br />3) Replace rotting porch railing with new wood or metal railing to match existing style. <br />STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES: <br />Doors: Pages 10-11; Porches: Pages 17-18; Windows: Pages 29-32 <br />SITE VISIT REPORT: N/A <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: The change of windows from full floor to ceiling to shorter windows with a <br />paneled knee wall will have minimal impact on the integrity of the house. The design of the paneled knee walls is <br />in keeping with the era of the structure. Replacement of the porch railing is necessary for safety and the new rail <br />design matches the existing railing style while achieving code and safety compliance.
