JOSEPH <br />COUNTY <br />CERTIFICATE <br />OF <br />APPROPRIATENESS <br />The Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend and St. <br />Joseph County has approved the following work: <br />1) Install glass block in basement window openings. <br />2) Replace sagging segment of front porch floor with treated wood. <br />3) Point necessary areas in foundation and chimney with lime mortar or type O mortar. <br />4) Scrape and paint existing siding, replacing where sections are missing/damaged with <br />matching red cedar when absolutely necessary. <br />5) Replace 14 existing windows with JELD-WEN Better Series white vinyl single hung <br />replacement windows while saving exterior trim and framing. Two windows in the rear to <br />be resized by 3 inches as seen in packet presented to the Commission on June 16, 2025. <br />Wood sashes to be saved on site or donated to a salvage company. Should new windows be <br />required in the future, Commission stipulates that they be wood or aluminum-clad wood <br />windows. <br />6) Replace front and rear doors with Mastercraft Augustine Primed Steel Half Lite doors. <br />Framing around front door to be saved and new cedar framing to be installed around rear <br />door to match the front.
