Schneider Property Owner: Eric Stalheim Landmark or District Designation: South Bend Local Land- mark, Ordinance #8373-1993 Rating: Outstanding DESCRIPTION OF STRUCTURE/SITE: Two story American foursquare house with wood clapboard siding on concrete block foundation. Large exterior brick chimney on the north facade. Hip roof with wide eaves. Brick porch with hip roof and brick piers and rails with stone caps. Windows are 6/1 and 4/4 double hung. ALTERATIONS: AA 2019-0703 allowed for the removal and replacement of asphalt shingle roof. COA 2011- 1229 allowed for the removal of tree stumps. COA 1999-0812 allowed for the installation of a chain link fence. APPLICATION ITEMS: “Move front door to original location, Remove non-original door and canopy on south side of house, Remove non-original back porch handrails, Install new half-round gutters on house and porches, replace garage roof with new architectur- al asphalt shingles, Exterior siding and window restoration/maintenance and painting. - See attachment for more in depth description.” DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: The applicant has requested approval to: 1. Move existing original front door back to it’s original location. 2. Remove non-original side door and canopy and replace with salvaged historic 6-light windows. 3. Remove modern back porch handrail and replace south side rail with new rail to match character of the house. 4. Install new half round gutters with leaf guards to main house and porches and repair wood fascia. 5. Replace asphalt shingle roof on garage with new architectural asphalt shingles.
