(P t3 W <br />45pUT8 <br />Department of <br />Community Investment <br />Memorandum <br />Monday, February 25, 2013 <br />TO: Redevelopment Commission <br />FROM: Beth Leonard Inks b�l <br />SUBJECT: Blackthorn Golf Course Capital Needs <br />At the most recent Blackthorn Joint Committee meeting in October 2012, the Joint Committee <br />recognized the desperate need for capital investment at Blackthorn Golf Course (see attached) in <br />order to maintain the quality of this City asset. Cash flow from operations is not sufficient to fund <br />these improvements, yet without them, we will soon see significant deterioration in the playability <br />and attractiveness of the facilities. We have recently been successful in winning new (or returning) <br />events to Blackthorn (LPGA event, Coaches vs. Cancer, etc.) and need to maintain the course's <br />excellent reputation in order to keep these functions. <br />We recognize the Commission, several years ago, determined the course should cover these types of <br />expenses from cash flow. We have tried very hard to comply with that request. We seek the <br />Commission's review of the attached list of needs and guidance on how to move forward to protect <br />this precious City asset.
