1Commftttt Zsport: <br /> Parks and Recreation Committee <br /> to Ujt tommttOtt tOUtttfl Of OS tf tg Of *MO Otntb: <br /> The March 24, 1997 meeting of the Parks and Recreation Committee was called to order by <br /> its Chairperson, Council Member James Aranowski at 4:20 P.M. in the Council informal <br /> meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members; Aranowski, Pfeifer, Kelly, Broden, <br /> Varner,Ujdak, Coleman, Sniadecki; Carl Littrell, Phil Sinclair, Randy Nowacki, Vivian <br /> Dembera,Don Porter and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Aranowski noted that the purpose of the meeting is to review Bill No. <br /> 21-97 which would approve the sale of park property. <br /> Mr.Phil Sinclair made the presentation. He noted that the Park Department and the South <br /> Bend School Corporation have had discussions with regard to the real estate. The parties <br /> have reached agreement that the purchase price for the real estate in question would be one <br /> hundred and thirty-six thousand dollars ($136,000.00) and would be applied to the <br /> construction of a new golf course maintenance building. He noted that the new <br /> maintenance facility would be built between the third and fourth holes at the Studebaker <br /> Park. The current facility is eighteen hundred(1,800) square feet and the new facility will <br /> be thirty-five hundred (3,500) square feet for a total cost between $270,000.00 and <br /> $290,000.00 which include costs for sewer lines,road, architectural fees,etc. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Udjak made a motion seconded by Council <br /> Member Sniadecki that Bill No.21-97 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion <br /> passed. <br /> Council Member Broden then introduced Vivian Dembera, a senior at the University of <br /> Notre Dame,to the Committee who is working on a internship with the Park Department. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Committee the meeting was adjourned <br /> at 4:30 P.M. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Council Member James Aranowski, Chairperson <br /> Parks and Recreation Committee <br /> Attachments <br /> • <br />
