Comm at* Airport: <br /> Community and Economic Development Committee <br /> �0 <br /> tbt Commou QCouiuU of the tttg of *oath Strut,: <br /> The June 10, 1996 meeting of the Community and Economic Development Committee was <br /> called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Sean Coleman at 5:00 P.M. in the <br /> Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Kelly, Zakrzewski, Washington, <br /> Varner,Luecke, Coleman, Pfeifer,Broden; Tom Ford,Ernie Szarwark, Mike Beitzinger, <br /> Don Porter,and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Resolution No 96-51 which is a ten year Real Property Tax <br /> Abatement uest for the benefit of Midwest Land Development and Resolution No.96-52 <br /> req P <br /> which is a five year Personal Property Tax Abatement request for the benefit of Midwest <br /> Land Company. Mr. Mike Beitzenger reviewed the report from the Community and <br /> Economic Development Department dated July 18, 1995 noting that the total project is <br /> estimated at 24 million dollars and meets all of the criteria of the city and the state.He noted <br /> that the petitioner would be relocating from Chicago. <br /> Mr. Ernie Szarwark, the attorney for the petitioner, made the presentation. He noted that <br /> the petitioner is one of the premier commercial printers in the world. Two hundred new <br /> jobs would be brought to the area. <br /> Council Member Pfeifer questioned how many women would be hired at the facility and <br /> the current status if whether there would be a day care operation. Mr. Szarwark stated that <br /> he would have this information at this evenings meeting. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Luecke made a motion, seconded by Council <br /> Member Zakrzewski that Resolution Nos. 96-51 and 96-52 be recommended favorably to <br /> Council.The motion passed. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Resolution No. 96-53 which is a five year Real Property <br /> Residential Tax Abatement request for Value Plus Construction Inc. Mr. Beitzenger <br /> reviewed his letter dated June 3, 1996 and the attachments which concluded that the <br /> petitioner meets all of the state and local requirements for the Residential Tax Abatement. <br /> Mr. Tom Ford, the president of Value Plus Construction Inc. made the presentation. He <br /> noted that the property is 1915 North Olive Street where a home with an approximate value <br /> of$60,000.00 would be built. Mr.Beitzenger then reviewed the report dated June 3, 1996 <br /> for Resolution No. 96-54 which a Residential Tax Abatement for Value Plus Construction. <br /> It concluded that the petitioner meets all of the local and state requirements. Mr. Ford the <br /> president of the company noted that he has built seven homes in the Olive Street area <br /> already. The properties involved would be at 2300 West Bergan Street and 2400 West <br /> Bergan Street, each valued at approximately $65, 000.00 with 1040 square feet with a <br /> basement. Council Member Colemen congratulated Mr. Ford on his contribution to the <br /> City. <br /> • <br />
