ti <br /> Commfttes 2.eport: <br /> Zoning and Annexation Committee <br /> to at Common tonntfI of tbt City of if.outb Ifflentr: <br /> The January 23, 1995 meeting of the Zoning and Annexation Committee was called <br /> to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Lee Slavinskas at 4:45 P.M. in the Council <br /> informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Puzzello, Kelly, Slavinskas, <br /> Zakrzewski, Washington, Coleman, Luecke, Duda, and Ladewski; Attorney Bruce <br /> Bancroft,John Byorni,Don Porter, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> The first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 107-94 which is a zoning <br /> request for the property located at 712 North Niles Ave. <br /> Mr. John Byorni made the report from the Area Plan Staff and Commission. He <br /> noted that both the Staff and the Commission send the request to the full Council with a <br /> favorable recommendation.He noted that 5.12 acres are involved and the zoning request is <br /> from "D" light industrial to "A-3". Council member Ann Puzzello the district Council <br /> Member presented a letter dated January 10, 1985 signed by Jack Roberts the Executive <br /> Director of Madison Center requesting her assistance in giving the presentation on the <br /> proposed rezoning. She noted that the building would be for a children's hospital and <br /> treatment center. A site plan was then shown to the Committee. She noted that there were <br /> no remonstrances at the Area Plan Commission meeting. She also noted that the proposed <br /> structure would be north of the present building. <br /> Mr. Bruce Bancroft of the Barnes and Thornburg Law Firm then provided further <br /> information. He noted that the three story structure would be 71,000 square feet. It would <br /> house 58 beds and would create 60 new jobs. It would be for both children and adolescent. <br /> He noted that the property to the East is currently owned by T. Brooks Brademas and is in <br /> the process of being purchased. The cost of the project is approximately $9,000,000.00. <br /> The Bond Issue would be issued in March of 1995. Society Bank has provided a <br /> irrevocable letter of credit for the facility. Mr. Bancroft also noted that Madison Center <br /> would enter into a easement agreement with that Department of Economic Development in <br /> order to continue the walkway along the river. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Coleman made a motion, seconded by <br /> Council Member Puzzello that Bill No. 107-94 be recommended favorable to Council.
