Conant* Zsport <br /> COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> Zo the COMM toultcfl of Os tttg of south Stub: <br /> The February 28, 1994 meeting of the Community and Economic Development <br /> Committee was called to order by its Chairperson,Council Member Roland Kelly at <br /> 4:30 p.m.in the Council Informal Meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Luecke, Kelly, Puzzello, <br /> Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, Coleman, Duda, and Ladewski: Mike Beitzinger, Don <br /> Porter,Dave St. Claire and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Kelly noted that the first item on the agenda was to review <br /> Resolution No. 94-17 which is a personal property tax abatement request for <br /> • Midwest Embroidery Inc.doing business at 3600 McGill Street. <br /> Mr. Beitzinger then reviewed the report dated February 16, 1994 from the <br /> Department of Community and Economic Development "copies attached" The <br /> petitioner manufacturers embroidered and screen printed garment to licensed and <br /> premium industries. They will add eight(8) new embroidery machines at the cost <br /> of $90,000,each, and one automatic screen print machine with a dryer at the cost of <br /> $85,000. The total project cost is estimated to be $805,000.00. The project would <br /> create 21 new jobs and a new annual payroll of approximately $310,000.00. This <br /> would be in addition to the current 92 exsisting full-time permanent and part-time <br /> jobs. <br /> Mr.Dave St. Claire,the Vice President of the Company then showed a brochure of <br /> the products manufactured by the Company (copy attached). He noted that the <br /> Company has experienced a 50% growth rate per year for the past 11 years. In <br /> response by a question raised by Council Member Luecke,it was noted that the life <br /> expectancy of the equipment would average anywhere from 10-20 years unless <br /> technology changes occured. The new equipment is 40% more efficient then the <br /> current equipment. Currently the Company works a 16 hour day which will switch <br /> to a 24 hour operation. He noted that service is throughout the continental United <br /> States. <br /> Followin g further discussion, Council Member Slavinskas made a motion, <br /> seconded by Council Member Ladewski, the Resolution No. 94-17 be <br /> recommended favorably to Council.
