QCommitttt 'oort <br /> Human Resources and Economic Development Committee <br /> Zo OIL tommott touutil of OA OLit,1 of §outb nb <br /> The February 14, 1994 meeting of the Human Resources and Economic <br /> Development Committee was called to order by its Chairperson, Council member <br /> Roland Kelly at 5:15 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Luecke, Washington, Kelly, <br /> Puzzello, Slavinskas, Coleman, Duda, and Ladewski; Charles P. Rice, Robert <br /> Wozny,Don Inks,Don Porter, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> The first item on the agenda was to review Resolution No. 94-11 addressing the tax <br /> abatement request of Automatic Technologies. Mr. Don Inks made the <br /> presentation. He reviewed the detailed report from the Community and Economic <br /> Development Department (copy attached). He noted that the area in question <br /> qualifies for a five (5) year personal property tax abatement. <br /> Mr. Jim Gregory than made a further presentation. He provided material on <br /> Automatic Technologies Ink (copy attached). 200 jobs are involved as part of the <br /> tax abatement for the property located at 36003 Progress Drive. <br /> Following further discussion, Council Member Slavinskas made a motion, <br /> seconded by Council Member Ladewski, that Resolution No. 94-11 be <br /> recommended favorably to council. The motion passed. <br /> The Committee than reviewed Resolution No. 94-12 which is a request for a ten <br /> year real property tax abatement for the property located at 210 South Michigan. <br /> Mr. Don Inks reviewed the report dated January 24, 1994 on the proposed project. <br /> It was noted that there would be substantial renovation of the 30,000 square foot <br /> plaza building with a total project cost of approximately $525,000.00 (copy <br /> attached). Mr. Charlie P. Rice than made the presentation. He noted that the <br /> facilities the old annexed to the old St. Joe Bank Building. With the renovation it <br /> would enhance an area of the downtown central business area. <br /> Following further discussion, Council Member Ladewski made a motion, seconded <br /> by Council Member Coleman, that Resolution No. 94-12 be recommended <br /> favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Resolution No. 94-13 which is a six (6) year real <br /> property tax abatement request for Lot Four (4) in the Crossroad Industrial <br /> Complex. Mr. Don Inks reviewed the report dated January 31, 1994 that found <br /> that petition qualifies for a six (6) real property tax abatement request. Mr. Bob <br /> Wozny made a brief presentation. He noted that he represents M/W Partnership. <br /> The petitioners in the business of creating and printing mailing lists and labels for <br /> mailing and shipping throughout the country. The projected cost of the building is <br /> approximately $485,000.00 and between 10 to 15 new permanent jobs would be <br /> created. <br />
