(i.ammtttn, lrpnrt <br /> ZONING AND VACATION COMMITTEE <br /> tip &mmon Mount% of tip QIi of*Huth Iirnb: <br /> The April 25, 1989 meeting of the Zoning and Vacation <br /> Committee was called to order at 4: 30 p.m. in the Council <br /> informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Luecke, <br /> Niezgodski, Soderberg, Puzzello, Slavinskas, Voorde, Duda, <br /> and Coleman; Sherry Shane, David Norris, Doug Pierce, Larry <br /> Koepfle, members of the news media, and Kathleen Cekanski- <br /> Farrand. <br /> Council Member Slavinskas noted that the petitioner for Bill <br /> No. 30-89 which would vacate various property has requested <br /> that the Bill be continued until the meeting of May 8, 1989. <br /> Mr. Larry Koepfle, an Economic Development Specialist with <br /> the Department of Economic Development then reviewed Bill <br /> No. 18-89 which would vacate the property commonly known as <br /> Washington Street West of Niles Avenue extended and East of <br /> the East Race. He noted that the area is vacant and would <br /> be attached to Lot No. 48 to allow the construction of a <br /> three story office. building. <br /> In response to.. questions raised by Council Member Luecke, he <br /> noted that there had been discussions with regard to <br /> providing a turn around area and a staging area open to the <br /> public. He noted that the City is looking for someone else <br /> to improve at their cost this development. In response to a <br /> question raised by Council Member Soderberg he noted that <br /> there was not a formal written commitment with regard to the <br /> turn around and staging area. He further noted that Ann <br /> Kolata would have further details with regard to the <br /> proposed development at the the formal meeting of the Common <br /> Council. <br /> Following further discussion Council Member Coleman made a <br /> motion seconded by Council Member Puzzello that Bill No. 30- <br /> 89 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 25-89 which would annex <br /> into the City certain land located in Centre Township. Mr. <br /> Doug Pierce representing Mr. Robert Goodrich of Grand <br /> Rapids, Michigan gave the presentation. He noted that the <br /> purpose of the annexation was to basically bring into the <br /> City point .78 acres along Ireland Road. The developer <br /> plans to have a ten-screen theatre with 2 , 100 seats and <br /> parking for 600 vehicles. He noted that this was a <br /> voluntary annexation. It was also noted that Resolution No. <br /> 89-38 under Special Business would be to review the written <br /> fiscal plan for the area in question. <br />
