OIDmmttite &port <br /> PERSONNEL AND FINANCE COMMITTEE <br /> ND * Cn t u= O ounttl of Up Qttg at On ttti <br /> The January 23, ' 1989 meeting of the Personnel and Finance <br /> Committee was called to order by the Vice Chair Person Sean . <br /> Coleman at 3 :40 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Coleman, <br /> Luecke,. Slavinskas, and Niezgodski; Dale Balsbaugh, members <br /> of the news media and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Coleman then called upon Dale Balsbaugh to <br /> review Bill No. 1-89 which would appropriate $10, 300. 00 from <br /> the Morris Civic Auditorium Improvement Fund for the purpose <br /> of completion of the new sound system, purchase of new <br /> microphones, purchase of a new cyclorama and purchase of new <br /> doors for the loading area back stage at the Morris Civic - <br /> Auditorium. <br /> Mr. Balsbaugh noted that the funds in--this account are <br /> generated by the $.40 per ticket surcharge. ' He noted that <br /> there were basically four items to be addressed namely labor <br /> costs, enhancing the sound system, the new cyclorama which <br /> would create a background effect, and the new doors. <br /> . Mr. Balsbaugh also detailed the upcoming events at the <br /> Morris Civic Auditorium. The Council Attorney noted that <br /> Council Member Voorde had contacted her and that he heard <br /> Mr. Balsbaugh's presentation before the Century Center Board • <br /> of Managers and was in favor of the appropriation. <br /> Following further discussion Council Member Luecke made a <br /> motion seconded by Council Member Slavinskas that Bill No. <br /> 1-89 be recommended favorably to Council. <br /> The Council Attorney noted that Mr. Balsbaugh had contacted <br /> her earlier today and advised her that an additional <br /> $5, 000. 00 would be necessary to address an electrical cable <br /> problem. Since the current bill could not be increased, it <br /> was explained to the committee that a new bill requesting an <br /> appropriation in that amount would be forthcoming.
