• <br /> OhntunWt#n Road <br /> OW tI'e ft[uuwwn Commit of tlpr (Mg of Snug limit ZONING AND VACATION COMMITTEE <br /> The March 10, 1986 meeting of the Zoning and Vacation Committee <br /> was called to order by its Chairman, Councilman John Voorde at 4 : 00 p.m. <br /> in the Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included: Councilmen Puzzello, Voorde, <br /> Braboy, Paszek, Zakrzewski, and Barcome; Doug Carpenter, Mr. Bob Lee, <br /> members of the news media and iathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Councilman Voorde noted that four bills had been sent to the <br /> Committee for review and recommendation. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 4-86 which would re-zone <br /> the property located in the 5200 block of West Linden Avenue. Mr. Art <br /> Perry, the attorney for the petitioner, noted that he had requested a <br /> similar re-zoning in 1983. Due to additional time which the petitioner <br /> needed for architectural drawings, they were unable to procure a building <br /> permit before the one year period after the re-zoning was approved, <br /> therefore it expired. Mr. Perry said that in light of that expiration he <br /> was therefore requesting the same identical re-zoning for the area The <br /> Knights of Columbus would build a structure 176 feet by 500 feet for their <br /> new home. The group was 100 years old. He noted that two of the Knights <br /> of Columbus members were present, namely Richard VanOverberghe and Mr, <br /> Smyzlo. Councilman Voorde noted that the rezoning received a favorable <br /> recommendation from Area Plan on February 18, 1986. <br /> Following discussion by the Committee, Councilman Puzzello <br /> made a motion seconded by Councilman Zakrzewski that Bill No 4-86 go <br /> to Council favorably. The motion passed unanimously. <br /> The Council Attorney noted that Councilman Beck had requested <br /> that Bill No. 7-86 which would re-zone the area located at 1735 E. Calvert <br /> be continued at the .-request of Councilman Beck to March 24 , 1986. • <br /> The Committee then reviewed two (2) bills namely Bill No. 18-86 <br /> which would vacate certain described property and Bill Mo. 19-86 which <br /> would also vacate certain described property. The request was being made <br /> by NIPSCO and they were represented by Mr. Bob Lee. i•1r. Lee noted that <br /> Mr. John Zavinski of 3IPSCO was also present for any questions, Mr. Lee <br /> then reviewed the petition with a map of the area in question. It was noted <br /> by Councilman Voorde that the Board of Public Works recommended that both <br /> vacations be approved subject to conditions set forth in their letter of <br /> March 4 , 1986. (copy attached) <br /> The Council Attorney recommended that Sec. 5 of both Bill Nos . <br /> 18-86 and 19-86 be amended by striking the period and adding the following, <br /> and subject to the conditions set forth by the Board of Public Works at <br /> its meeting of March 4 , 1986. Mr. Lee had no objections to the proposed <br /> amendments to each bill. Councilman Zakrzewski made a motion seconded by <br /> Councilman Puzzello that the amendment read by the Council Attorney be <br /> made to both bills.
