It was
.4-pr recommendation that no further action be taken by the City Council
until both she and the Council Attorney had the opportunity to review
the final FCC Rules in this area.
•
Councilman Beck noted that Councilman Taylor had advised her
of his concern over roof mounting. She also noted her concern regarding
setback requirements and noted that flag poles and rocks are not considered
violations currently by the City. Councilman Beck also noted that
"Chicago antennas" have been installed throughout the City. She stressed
that the City must be consistent when regulating antennas.
Mr. Jack Matthews then reviewed ground mounting. He also reviewed
side mounting requirements. Mr. Matthews also noted that "an assembled
device" requires a permit thus satellite dish antennas would have a
permit requirement.
Kathy Barnard noted that the ordinance was to protect consumers.
•
Mrs. Schwartz noted that the interpretation of existing zoning
laws and the issue of grandfathering were all issues which must be
addressed.
Council President Beck noted that safety and aesthetics were
valid considerations. However she thought that roof mounting in
residential areas should be addressed in any proposed ordinance. She also
noted that she had not found this issue to be a "burning issue" by her
constituency.
Kathy Barnard noted that the permit requirement would cost
$15. 00.
Councilman Voorde noted a better understanding of the safety
issues as well as the placement issues.
, Ig PA[IS PURt1CNIIO CO.
