Public Works Committee The August 20, 1980 meeting of the Public Works Committee was called to order by its Chairman, Councilman Serge at 8 :30 p.m. in the Council meeting room. Persons in attendance included the following: Councilmen Voorde, Crone, McGann, Szymkowiak, Beck, Dombrowski, and Serge; City Engineer Pat McMahon; Citizen-members Orvis Hart and Alex Deranek, Marchmont Kovas of the Tribune, and Council Attorney, Kathleen Cekanski- Farrand. Councilman Serge announced that he had been contacted by Attorney Jack Dunfee regarding the possibility of starting a new recycling program and shutting down the Gertrude Street operation. He stated that Mr. Dunfee would like to take members of the Public Works Committee to see the operation in Fort Wayne. Tuesday, August 26th was proposed as a possible date. Councilman Serge then informed the Committee that the overall purpose of the meeting was to review Bill No. 93-80 which was referred to the Committee at the last Council meeting. He explained that this Bill would appropriate $18 , 500 from the Local Road and Street Fund to pay for signalization work at the new fire station at Cleveland and Bendix Roads, Pat McMahon was then called upon to give further details. Councilman Serge also brought to the Committee ' s attention the fact that the City Administration had filed for first reading a bill to transfer $105, 000 of which $35, 000 would be used for scarifica- tion and resurfacing, and $70, 000 would be used for signalization work at McKinley and Manchester. Following a discussion on these items, and questions about widening Ironwood Road south of Ewing Avenue, the meeting was adjourned at 9: 00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Joseph T.
