Freyermuth met with the Board and requested that the Board <br />give the Health Department office two more off ice chairs. Was instructed by the Board of Public Works at its meeting held last <br />Friday morning, to ask your Honorable; Body to purchase three chairs for the. The Board ordered an are light placed at the above location. <br />City Cemetery Sexton presented financial report For the month of January <br />1918, same read and placed on file. <br />Building Commissioner presented financial report of the Building Department <br />for the month of January 1918, same read and placed on file. <br />Mr. E. M. Morris,,representing'J. H. Mallette, appeared before the Board <br />and offered for file a bond in the sum of Five Thousand ($5,000.00)Dollars, .subject to the <br />contract for the sale of Garbage Said bond referred to the City Attorney for approve <br />as to the form of bond. <br />`— Mr. Goo. Y. Urey, Sexton of the City Cemetery met with;the Board andrequested <br />that he be allowed to purchase a lowering device for use in the City Cemetery, The <br />Board instructed Mr. Urey to purchase said lowering device , and as soon as such device <br />was in use in the City Come'tery that he should raise the pr ice, of vaults to $35, 00 <br />with a $3. 00 discount if paid within Sixty- (66) days. <br />The following resolution was adopted by the Board_, and ordered 'set for a <br />hearing. <br />, `-STREF,T Oil ALLEY IMPROVEMT RESOLUTION NO..564. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC- WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, $T. <br />fOSEPH COUNTY, STATE OF INDIANA, That it is desired and deemed necessary, to improve <br />Jefferson Boulevard from the east line .of Michigan Street to the east_ line of the <br />Bridge over the St.: Joseph River as follows, to -wit: - <br />Said boulevard shall be resurfaced <br />on the present foundation from'the east line E the bridge over the St Joseph River <br />to the easterly line of Lincoln Way East; and said Boulevard from the easterly line of <br />Lincoln Way East to the East line of Michigan Street shall b e graded,. and the roadway <br />thereof shall be paved; and also the roadway of certain portion,* of the streets and alleys <br />which enter or intersect said boulevard shall be graded; and paved. The paving material <br />to be used in making said improvement shall be: Sheet Asoh It , Bitulithic, Creosoted <br />Wooden Blocks or Brick, and the foundation shall be portlandcement concrete six (6) inches <br />thick for the sheet asphalt, bitulithic, creosoted wooden blocks and brick; also cement curb <br />shall be constructed along said boulevard where same is not already constructed;. storm <br />water inlets and conduits shall be constructed where necessary ; all manh@Ie covers <br />and storm water inlets shall be set .to the proper grade and cement marginal curb shall be <br />constructed at all street and alleys `where necessary;. all as is more particularly shown, <br />and all in accordance with the profiles, plans, detail drawings and specifications on file <br />in the Office of the Department of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />The cost of the improvement herein provided for, except street and alley <br />Int*rnae-bons shall be paid by special sesoament to he levied upon the property <br />spsoil.y-bsnef'ittad:'Go thiamount"that. the }sue! may be -legally assessed therefor, in <br />accordance with an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled * An Act <br />Concerning Municipal Corporationa, " approved March 6,29, and -in accordance with and <br />pursuaht to the prov is ions of all acts amendatory and supplemental thereto. <br />
