Broden, Health and Public Safety Committee Chairperson <br /> Date: December 31, 2018 <br /> 2018 Annual Report of the Health and Public Safety Committee <br /> Dear Common Councilmembers: <br /> As Chairperson of the Health and Public Safety Committee, I am filing this report pursuant to § <br /> 2-10(i) of the South Bend Municipal Code. It highlights some of the Committee's activities <br /> involving zoning and special exception requests affecting the land use decisions in the City of <br /> South Bend. <br /> Duties: As noted in the South Bend Municipal Code, the Health and Public Safety <br /> Committee is charge with the following duties: <br /> Oversees the various activities performed by the Fire and Police Departments, EMS, <br /> Department of Code Enforcement, ordinance violations, and related health and public safety <br /> matters. <br /> Members: There were four(4) Council Members and two (2) Citizen Members this year <br /> serving on the Committee namely: <br /> 1. Councilmember Jo M. Broden, Chairperson <br /> 2. Councilmember John Voorde, Vice-Chairperson <br /> 3. Councilmember Oliver Davis, Member <br /> 4. Councilmember Karen L. White, Member <br /> 5. Genevieve Crum, Citizen Member <br /> 6. Susan Soisson, Citizen Member <br /> Meetings: The Health and Public Safety Committee met a total of eight(8)times in <br /> 2018, with an organizational meeting in March to look at past issues, to determine issues <br /> of ongoing interest, and to identify any new issues.
