MArch 17th. ,1920 at 7:15 P.M. <br />The following res olut ion was received read And plAced on file <br />WHEREAS, the New Jersey, Indiana and Illinois Ra ilroAd has applied <br />to the Board of Public Works for favorable action on the granting of a franchise to <br />cross certain street in the southwest part of the 31ity, inlcuding Prairie Avenue <br />And Olive Streets, with an industrial spur to sery factories now located in that <br />section, as.we-ll s dactories that will lAter be a tablished there, And <br />WHEREAS, the sAid spur, in coneihe <br />et ion with the mAin line of the New <br />Jersey, Indiana, And Illoinois Railroad, will give City of .South Bend A direcVlt <br />And independent connection with the WabAsh Railroad And, <br />Whereas, certain controversies have arisen as to the relative .bens <br />fits to the City by reason of the construction of this.spur, And <br />WHEREAS, after a careful cons eration of the subject from all <br />angles it AppeArs that the said spur can be constr cted without material damages to ap <br />any exis iting factory sites, but will be inestimab a value to the factories at present <br />located in that section of the City And will furni h facilities of very great value <br />to other factories that may be located on its trac ; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors of the <br />South Bend Chamber of Commerce, After due consideration, hereby express their opinion <br />that it is for the best interests of the City of South Bend thAt the sAid franchise <br />be granted And <br />RESOLVED FURTHER , thAt the Secretary be instructed to deliver <br />A copy of this resolution to the Board of Public W rks and the Cwmmnn.
