On August 9, 2011 the Redevelopment Commission approved the purchase of property at 622 East Sample Street, one of the last pieces of property in an area proposed for future development as an expansion of the Southeast Neighborhood Park. The property was purchased on August 30, 2011. Both 622 and 718 East Sample Street are now owned by the Redevelopment Commission. The proposed project consists of demolishing a residence (622 East Sample) and storage building (718 East Sample), the removal of foundation walls, non -city sidewalks, the capping of utilities and the clearing of trees, stumps, brush and assorted debris (within the hatch - marked areas of the attached map), and regarding and seeding of the land. This work will allow the site to be ready for future development as well as help increase the safety of the surrounding area. Bid specifications prepared by the Department of Engineering are attached to this memo. To provide the price element prior to consideration, our office is coordinating with Engineering to open bid quotes for the project at the Monday, September 12, 2011 Board of Public Works meeting (that information will be forwarded to you as soon as it's available). Pending approval from the Commission, a bid would be awarded at the September 26, 2011 Board of Public Works meeting.
