Engel drum , <br />t' s onday'January 9th., 1928. <br />�n <br />Mr. Reeder was not present <br />Mayor Montgomery and City Attorney Romig were present. <br />Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. <br />George Rulison' Dept..U.S.Prosecutor appeared before the Board in responee <br />�. to a 'subpoena. <br />Richard 04Hara was not present, and Chief Hatt reported that his whereaboul <br />at the time were unknown. <br />Mr Rulison' was sworn as a. witness by Pres. Engeldrum and was questionee by' <br />Mayor Montgomery and City Attorney Romig. <br />Mr.,Rulison testified that Richard O'Hara in Federal Court on December <br />23rd. did not mention City or County Officials, employees or Police Officers:_ <br />or give any testimony that would reflect upon the Ci'$Y County Officials, <br />employees, or Police Officors and that the oily mention of any <br />-officials that was made by him was when Michael Sarous had pointed out a <br />place to him (O'Hara in the vicinity of Lincoln Way East and.Sample 5t:,, <br />and had remarked that " there is a place that.not even the Federal Men <br />will touch <br />Rulison Wfurther testified that Richara. MHars. in <br />Fellers 1.r urt -told that on one o:;casion Michael Sarous asked him for money <br />"to some attorney for protection but O'Hara could not name the <br />�rney, but that there was no mention made of. any City or County officials.* <br />°" his conversation between OSHara. and Sarous according to Mr. Rulisons <br />best recollection heal taken place at an inn,East or North East of the <br />City. An Inn supposed to have been operated by O'Hara. <br />There were no other witnesses present to give testimony. <br />on prevai;,ed that due t4l the inability of having Richard O'Hara <br />.` ��,,•==t ap a7miA l, noa s pe cial meeting be adjourned, and the invest <br />Immeadiately following the adjourri.nent of the Special Meeting the <br />regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was called to, order by <br />President Engeldrum. • <br />Al <br />FIRE DEPT. <br />Fire Dept. bills were approved and ordered.paid. <br />Moton prevailed that the applications of John Leo Luzny, and Elmer K. <br />Rasinski be approved and ordered placed on file. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPT. <br />Electrical dept. were approved and ordered paid. <br />Motion prevailed that the weekly.report of Supt. O,ualls for the week end- <br />ing Jan. 8the be approved and ordered palced on fiel. <br />Motion prevailed that the appointment of Carl Shaffer by Supt. Qualls <br />on Jan. lst.,.1928 be ratified as of Jan lst., 1928. <br />Motion prevailed that according to, the Budget passed by the City Council <br />for the year 1928:rthe salary of line foreman be :"p2,160. per year; the <br />lineman 2,040 peg year, a.nd-the Alarm Station Operators $1,6x0 per year. <br />DEPT. OF WEIGHTS & %MEASURES <br />City-Sealer Burns bills were approved and ordered paid. <br />.- lotion prevailed that the veekl report of Ci'Uy Sealer Burns for the week <br />ending Jan 7th. be approved and ordered placed on file. <br />POLICE DEPT. <br />-Police Dept. bills were approved and ordered paid. <br />y Motion prevailed that the application of Frank J. Stark, and Andrew Papay <br />be approved and ordered place on file. <br />Motion prlva.iled that Chief Hatt be instructed to again order all Pot °ice..,:: <br />Officers to if possible put forth a greater effort I enforcing the five` <br />"minute double parking rule. <br />Motion prevailed that in accordance with the 1928 budget ppssed by the <br />=Common Council car washer Herbert Iwifflin be paid a salary of <br />y . -ear <br />
