_ - Regular %sting. <br />Regular re.eeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on TIvIonday <br />May 13,1935 at 6.30 A. MT. <br />All Members were present. <br />Anutes of meeting of may 6,1935 were read and approved. <br />Requisitions bearing numbers 08473 to 68476 inclusive were approved <br />Payroll for Board of Safety,Dog bound and Electrical Depts were allowed <br />in the amount of 64300;al5o claims from the following suppliers <br />amounting to 369. =20. <br />Frank S.Andrews 50.00 The South Bend Supply go 14.65 <br />Frank S.Andrews 5.73 Schuyler Rose 69.75. <br />Frank''S.Andrews 5.62 C.H.Defrees Inc 21.53 <br />Holycross & Nye Cc 5.50 Geo Wyman & Co 17.00 <br />holycross & Nye Co 4.66 Duloy Printing Cc 24.00 <br />Thomas Rubber Co. 20.65 Simon Brothers Inc 4.70 <br />holycxoss & Nye Cc 9.25 South Bend Elec Cc 18.44 <br />.Ault - Camera Shop 6.40 Broadbeck Bros .90 <br />The Seagrave Corp 77.82 G.E.Meyer & Son Inc 1:0.57 <br />The •Gibson Cc 1.33' City Water `Works .70 <br />Fire Department Chief Freeh present ` <br />Matters pertaining to his department were discussed and the chi -ef <br />reported that - although the department had been fairly active,nothing <br />of particular importance had happened. <br />Electrical Dept Iv%' Qualls present. <br />Matters pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />Kr aualls reported no unusual activity.he reported that George Meyers <br />- who had developed a hernia in line of duty had gone to the hospital for <br />his operation at the expense of the city. <br />Louis Bruggner appeared before the Board stating he ha.d complied <br />an up to date-street guide and solicited an order from the Board 62 <br />Safety for its requirements.The matter was refered, to the secretary and <br />dhief -of police for investigation. <br />The board instructed the secretary to notify the dog pound Blaster <br />to appear before the board at its next regular meeting. <br />It was moved seconded and carried that the city Electrician <br />Louis Shannon to appear before the Board at its next meeting <br />Surety bond of Louis Shannon was approved and delivered to the <br />office of ;the city controller for payment and file. <br />A representative of the Garnitz Furniture Cc appeared before the <br />Board and asked permission to park an advertising truck at the curb in <br />front of their store at 128 So Michigan St for one day,Permission was <br />granted. <br />Police Department Chief Lane present. <br />Lewis C.Rourke and Chas V.Easterday applicants for the police department <br />were interviewed and the board took the matter under advisement.After <br />conferring with the chief it wa& decided to appoint Lewis C.Rourke and <br />Fdtard G.Radeeki to the fore'e to begin service as soon as physical <br />examination by the police surgeon could be made and they are accepted <br />by the pension physician subject to assignment by the chief of police. <br />The chief reported having sent Sergt ihitmer and VanDusen -and <br />officer Burns to Indianapolis to attend the Indiana training school. <br />Report of Bldg commissioner Dalton Moomaw regarding Trucking <br />Terminal on No Scott St was read and it was agreed to arrange a conference <br />between the interested parties between now and May lam.Z o <br />A letter from the LaSalle Hotel was read complaining about the <br />noise made at night by the police call on the N.�ru.Corner of LaSalle <br />ana 1dichigan St.The J3oard felt it could not very well r'ecozffirnend a change <br />in,--10c tiorn an:d. referred the matter to the chief og police to contact <br />the manager of the hotel and explain the situation. <br />The Gordon Baking Cc of Detroit and the Busse Baking Cc of South <br />Bend have within the last week operated music trucks on the streets of <br />,South Bend endangering lives of children who follow them.The matter <br />was referred to the chief of police and city attorney to investigate if <br />this is in violation of a city ordinance and to take action as may <br />seem expedient. <br />The secretary offered the following letter to be sent to special <br />officers whose commissions are on file to determine such as may still <br />be legitmate.`I'he letter was approved as follows. <br />The Board of Public Safety has - instructed its Secretary to make <br />a completesurvey of the Special officers commissions that are now <br />outstanding. <br />Aecording_to our records a special police commission was issued <br />.t© ,you some time ago.and to enable us to make our records complete <br />I <br />
