1 <br />r- <br />Regular letting of the Board <br />Regular wetting of, the bo�trd,of public saftey was held on monday April 8, <br />1935 at 8.30.A.M.411`memberw.wer_ present. <br />Minutes of metting of April lst 1935 wer read and approved. <br />Requisitions bearing the following members were approved08411 to 08423 <br />Also claims in the amount of 138996 fromthe following suppli- es,Also pay roll <br />for first halfof april amountingto .16.683.61. <br />Fire Dept Chief Freeh present <br />Matters pretaning to his department were discussed. <br />the chief reported that the edwards iron works proposed to remove the bell <br />from the tower on the fire station for 125.00.He also reporeed that the <br />John Beyer & sit &8 Sonts.roffing Co recommended repares to the centeral fire <br />station roof at a cost of 25.00.The chief was instructed to make the <br />further investegatigation and report atvnext metting. <br />The board approved and gave permission to the pension board to hold a.dance <br />,at playland park. <br />The following changes in the Fire Dept were ordered by the board. <br />Capt Leo Hunt.redueed to Lieut. <br />Lieut Ralph Roberts promoted to Captain. <br />.Lieut L. Robison demoted to private. <br />Private Jesse Bryant promoted to lieut. <br />.It eas moved seconded and carried that these changes be made affective April <br />15,th and that they are to assingment of the chief of the fire departemeitt <br />Applications to the Fire department made by George B. Short was ordered <br />plaveed on file. <br />Police Department Chief Lane present. <br />A commummication from the first church of ehrist scientist.-was read request <br />ing curb marking at the church onthe south side of the buiiding.The matter, <br />was refered to the chief of police with instructions to investigate and rend <br />-er such service as in his judgment.is ex pedient. <br />Request from the Progress Club also from Emil Johnson reference to 113 <br />Monroe St for parking restrictions were considered and the secretary was <br />instructed to write these people that the Chicago Motor Club in connection <br />with the enginering Dept is now making a traffic survey of the entirecity <br />and that their request will have.gonsideration after this survey is <br />combleted parking in the alley between '4 estern ave and Wayne West. of .Main <br />St was reported to the chief with instructions to investigate. <br />The matter of expence of special investigation was brought up and it was d <br />decided to refer this to the controller with instructionsto pay the claim. <br />A letter was received from Dr A.A.Kramer and.a claim from the College cash <br />And market for 15.00.and 16.88.respectively against Homer Ames,the former, <br />dating back to August 1933 and the latter dating back to iasa.y 1934, <br />requesting the board to insist upon Officer Ame §paying these bills the mat <br />-ter eas refered to the chief of police with instructions to inform officer <br />Ames that the board does not countenance such conduct. <br />Applications for the the police department werecreceived and ordered <br />placed on file from the folowing <br />Cilnton Fred Niblic. <br />William Ivy. <br />Official Bonds were approved for the following officers <br />Joseph Lak owski. <br />Carl Hansen Winther. <br />Sylvester Zell. <br />Joseph Lavitt.` <br />Harry Henderson. <br />Elmer Coil. <br />Levi Nulf. . <br />Eugene Robakowski. <br />Patrick Burns. <br />.electric Dept Mr Qualls,present <br />Mr Qualls reported that he ==had made an investigation of traffic at Van Bure <br />-n and cushing Sts where the church of the Brethern requested traffic <br />proteetion.Ivir Qualls recommended that as his investigation disclosed that.% <br />there wasnot sufficient to justify the installation of a traffic signal <br />
