Co. for the Feb. current for the Electrical department, $47.30s.a total of all bills of 4923,994 FIRE DEPARTMENT: Fire Chief, Rogy A. Knoblock, was present and the activities of his department were discussed. The application of Richard A. Stickely was approved, OOLICE DEPARrRIENT.- Acting Chief, H. M. Hamilton, was present and reported this activities of the police department. On motion by h1r. Trost, seconded by Mr. McSorley it was unanimously agreed that the slot machine picked up at the residence of a Mrs. Carr be returned to her. On motion by Mr. Trost, seconded by Mr. McSorley and unanimously carried U, ..-,it was agreed to return gaming devices to the Hotels Hoffmann & LaSalle under the condition that same will not be left in town. The result of the police departmentls vote on uniforms was read by the Clerk.- Moved by. Mr. Trost, seconded by 1.1r. McSorley and unanimously carried that the A. G. Meier & Co. be awarded the contract for police uniforms to expire Tan. 1, 1935. On, .motion by Mr. Gadacz., seconded by 111r. Trost and unanimously carried it was agreed,to• send the following letter to all employees comding under the jurisdiction of this Board: "To the entire personnel coming under the jurisdiction of the South Bend Board of Public-Safety: Certain standards of conduct are required with respect to our relations to the public and ourselves which are all based upon courtesy, honor and obedience. We all agree that high standards of conduct exist between the personnel, as a whole, but we feel that it is necessary that a certain few should be enlightened as to the rules promulgated by the Board of Public Safety.-- Any rules or regulations propounded by the Board of Public Safety are given .to the heads of the various sub-divisions coming under the juri- zdi 6-410h of the board and it isthe duty of such head to see `that the orders are carried out by the individual members of his department. The Individual members of the Board of Public Safety, as such, have no authority to-issue any orders to an individual member of any departmental subdivision. Any orders issued by the Board in the future will be in writing and signed by the Clerk of said Board and any changes in policy or regulations will require uire a quorum of the membership of the said Board as proVided in Sec. 159 of th Act Concerning Municipal Corporations which act is directly applicable to the Board of Public Safety. Every member of the Fire and Police forces, and all other members and appointees ointees of the Board of Public Safety shall be brought before the Board to be dealt with according to the decisions of the Board for the violation of any rules or regulations promulgated by the said Board." It was unanimously agreed that the newly appointed Captains OfRAtL41 Koczorowski, is permitted work in plain clothes for a period of 30 days.
