M, <br />1934. All members present,. Co. for the Feb. current <br />for the Electrical department, $47.30s.a total of all bills of 4923,994 <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: <br />Fire Chief, Rogy A. Knoblock, was present and the activities of his <br />department were discussed. <br />The application of Richard A. Stickely was approved, <br />OOLICE DEPARrRIENT.- <br />Acting Chief, H. M. Hamilton, was present and reported this activities <br />of the police department. <br />On motion by h1r. Trost, seconded by Mr. McSorley it was unanimously <br />agreed that the slot machine picked up at the residence of a Mrs. Carr <br />be returned to her. <br />On motion by Mr. Trost, seconded by Mr. McSorley and unanimously carried <br />U, ..-,it was agreed to return gaming devices to the Hotels Hoffmann & LaSalle <br />under the condition that same will not be left in town. <br />The result of the police departmentls vote on uniforms was read by the <br />Clerk.- Moved by. Mr. Trost, seconded by 1.1r. McSorley and unanimously <br />carried that the A. G. Meier & Co. be awarded the contract for police <br />uniforms to expire Tan. 1, 1935. <br />On, .motion by Mr. Gadacz., seconded by 111r. Trost and unanimously carried <br />it was agreed,to• send the following letter to all employees comding under <br />the jurisdiction of this Board: <br />"To the entire personnel coming under the jurisdiction of the South Bend <br />Board of Public-Safety: <br />Certain standards of conduct are required with respect to our relations <br />to the public and ourselves which are all based upon courtesy, honor and <br />obedience. We all agree that high standards of conduct exist between <br />the personnel, as a whole, but we feel that it is necessary that a <br />certain few should be enlightened as to the rules promulgated by the <br />Board of Public Safety.-- <br />Any rules or regulations propounded by the Board of Public Safety are <br />given .to the heads of the various sub-divisions coming under the juri- <br />zdi 6-410h of the board and it isthe duty of such head to see `that the <br />orders are carried out by the individual members of his department. The <br />Individual members of the Board of Public Safety, as such, have no <br />authority to-issue any orders to an individual member of any departmental <br />subdivision. Any orders issued by the Board in the future will be in <br />writing and signed by the Clerk of said Board and any changes in policy <br />or regulations will require uire a quorum of the membership of the said Board <br />as proVided in Sec. 159 of th Act Concerning Municipal Corporations <br />which act is directly applicable to the Board of Public Safety. <br />Every member of the Fire and Police forces, and all other members and <br />appointees ointees of the Board of Public Safety shall be brought before the <br />Board to be dealt with according to the decisions of the Board for the <br />violation of any rules or regulations promulgated by the said Board." <br />It was unanimously agreed that the newly appointed Captains OfRAtL41 <br />Koczorowski, is permitted work in plain clothes for a period of 30 days. <br />
