Knoblock, being confined to his home with illness, <br />was unable to.be present. <br />The., a.pplication of Geo. J. Frohmader for reinstatement on the department <br />was approved and ordered Placed on file. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: <br />Chief of Police, Horace M. Hamilton, was present and reported the <br />activities of his department and submitted report on the check up of <br />taxicabs which was ordered placed on file on motion made by 1,,2r. Trost <br />seconded by Mr. McSorley and unanimously carried. <br />The following communication was read: <br />"January 23, 1934 <br />"At 7 :09 p.m. this date the Desk Sergt. received a call from Dr. <br />Hoffman, 1530 E. Jefferson St. that he had been receiving a number of <br />calls from a party that was supposed to have his dog. Cruiser No. 1 <br />in charge of officers Vitou and Poure were sent to investigate and they <br />found that the dog was in the possession of Officer Howard. The <br />Doctor explained to the officers that there had been several calls that <br />evening in reference t_o the reward on the dog. <br />Officers Poure and Vitou went to the Howard residence secured possession <br />of the dog and turned same over to the wile of Dr. Robert Hoffman. The <br />dog in question had been missing for three days. Our records do not <br />show that the Dog Pound had been notified or the police station that the <br />dog had been recovered." <br />Sincerely, <br />JOHN B. KUESPERT <br />Chief of Police <br />Officer John Howard was called to the meeting and offerred an explana- <br />tion of his actions in the above complaint. Inasmuch as his testimony <br />differred from that of the charge, the Board requested the Clerk to <br />supboena Dr. Hoffman and have the Officers Vitou and Poure present at <br />the next meeting. <br />Special commissions were granted to Louis Meilke, Jeannette Kuespert <br />and Paul W. =:-.idup. <br />OA Notion by Mr. Trost, seconded by Mr. McBorley and unanimously carried <br />that all confiscated slot machines be destroyed.
