Budd, President, at 9 -05 A. 1r. All <br />members present . <br />POLI CE' <br />Follo?A ng the receipt of a 1 ette r . sent out by the Board of Public Safety <br />following the meeting which held. by a. special call on Yay 27th. , 1933, <br />Dr. Bernard J. Bolka, County Coroner and Russell P. Johnson, reporter <br />of the South B Tribune, appe ^red for questioning. The questioning <br />being for the purpose of investi.ga ting an alleged conversation that took <br />place between T'ayor - TTinkle and Chief of Police John D. Kuespert <br />on the morning of Eay 27th. , 1933. <br />Dr. Bolka, whon questioned, said : "I did not hear the conversation over <br />the telephone as 1 had just stepped into the Detective 'ureau when Chief <br />Kuespert h - -ng up. the receiver of - th. e 'phone. The Chief at that time was <br />crying and res upset over the tragedy the t 1 1 - PO taken place a short time <br />before. I know that Tuespert had a- mental breakdown irirhich plight cause a <br />person to d.o or say anything and at the time he �£roulr not be responsible.' <br />Dr. Bolka explainer further the t Chief , 'uespert neer s aWi complete rest <br />before assuming -n C13,ti es. <br />luestioned by I =r. Cade.ez a s to whether the Chief Tr:Tas Brun }�, T'r. Bolka <br />said: "I azr positive that Chief Y`u.espert was sober. The sight of <br />Officer Farkas that night upset the Chief anc he was not himself." <br />Questioned by L.'_r, Budd relative to the 'elleF4 telephone conversation <br />Russell P. Johnson, Tribune reporter said :"I was in the Detective Bureau <br />on the morning of Iay 27 1933. I heard Chief of Police John T. Kuespert <br />conversing over the telephone 1� th some one I presumed that it was T=ayor <br />Hinkle . The Chief war�D whoever he was talking to not to come to the <br />City Pall that day. uespert was ve--y pale and appeared to be upset <br />mentally and' he also appeared to be under to be under great pressure.'f <br />( uestion further by T.Tr. Budd relative 6s to iih-o was in the Detective <br />Bureau. at tY,e time, ,'r. Johnson replied: "There were several people <br />present,. but I do not red'all who they all were Frith the exception of <br />Drs. Bolka and. TIaley. I believe that Lr. (He was in Rochester, <br />inn. } <br />icheel Barany, Clerk of the Boerd, presented his resignation to ake <br />ffect June 16th. , 1933. <br />otion was made. by T:`r. Gad.acz, seconded by I -r. Trost end unanimously <br />arried. that 1''ichael B resignation be accepted. <br />otion was me de by 'fr. <br />Gadacz, <br />seconded by Tar. Trost and <br />unanimously <br />arried that T <br />Bprany be <br />and is hereby appointed as <br />a First Class <br />a trolman, effective <br />0- >ane715: <br />1933, txritb the follouing <br />assignment: <br />In charge of traffic desk and_ all details in connection <br />with traffic. <br />Supt. of Police 1.1 <br />Supt. of Dog Pound. <br />Supt. of btreet T1,rking and Painting. <br />'upt. of all Safety Eutters. <br />Acting secretary of the Board of Public Safety, <br />he appointment of 1 "ichael Barany is to fill one of three vacancies existing <br />t this time in the Police Department, two resulting from the murder of <br />wo officers and the dismisal of a third. <br />
