The. regular meeting of the Board of Public safety was held in the <br />rds Off ice , Mo'nday snuar 1st: , 1927 <br />Meeting was called to order at 4.20 P.M. by Pres. Engeldrum- <br />Mr. Nicely was not present <br />Motion prevailed to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the last <br />regular meeting. <br />FIRE DE`)T. <br />Bills ji' X Q to .297 were approved and ordereO, Maid. <br />Motion prevailed to accept and order placed on file the applications of. <br />Earl E. McGinn, Alvin S. Kopula, Felix Sikorski, Joseph E.- Torek „- Julius <br />Mostaert and John_ M.Szawark. <br />Motion prevailed to- instruct- Chief Knoblock to purchase a new life net <br />to be carried on the Hook and Ladder. <br />ELECTRICAL DEFT. <br />Motion prevailed to accept and order placed on file the weekly report of <br />Supt. Qualls for the week ending January 29th., 1927. <br />DEPT. OF WEIGHTS AND INLEASURES <br />Motiun prevailed to accept and order placed on file the weekly report of <br />City Sealer Burns for the week ending Jan. 29th., 1927. <br />POLICE DEFT. <br />Bills # //00 to # were approved and ordered paid. <br />Motion prevailed to approve and order placed on file the application of <br />Harry E. Dewees e . <br />Motion prevailed to instruct Chief Hatt to have traffic o-°ficers stand <br />directly under the automatic traffic signals during the hours of,,tbe day <br />when traffic is heavy to the end that better observence of the traffic <br />can be had, and that pedestrans may be aided in crossing the streets . <br />I <br />7erk,V Board of Public Safety Pr s. Qualls of the Electrical Dept,. for the week ending Feb. 5th':, 1927. <br />Motion prevailed to instruct Supt. Qualls to make a check of traffic at <br />the corner of Williams St. & Colfax Ave. and report the result of ,this <br />cheek to the Board at its next regular meeting. <br />Motion prevailed to instruct Supt. Qualls to install a traffic signal at <br />the entrance to the South Bend Watch Co. Plant on Mishawaka Aver to safe <br />guard employes while getting on and off'street ears at this point: <br />This signal was ordered placed with the understanding that if its operatin <br />seriously interfered with traffic on "2ishawaka Ave. it is to be t4ken.dose <br />and some other plan for handling this situation be adopted. <br />DEPT. OF WEIGHTS AND 11EASURES <br />Motion prevailed to accept and order placed on file the weekly report of <br />City Sealer Burns for the we, ,k ending Feb. 5th, 1927.
