<br /> <br /> <br />NEWS RELEASE <br /> <br />June 9, 2010 <br /> <br />Contact: Paul McMinn, Aquatics Director, 574.299.4768 ext. 245 <br /> <br />South Bend Parks to Open Pools & East Race this Week <br /> <br />SOUTH BEND, Indiana – The South Bend Parks and Recreation Department’s aquatics <br />facilities will begin opening for the season this week. <br /> <br />Kennedy Water Playground opens Thursday, June 10. Hours are 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 <br />p.m., Monday – Saturday, and 12n – 5:00 p.m. Sunday. Potawatomi Pool will open on <br />Friday, June 11, with hours 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. daily. <br /> <br />Kennedy Water Playground is located in Kennedy Park, on Westmore just east of Bendix <br />Drive. It is a newer modern low-depth interactive water playground.The facility offers <br /> <br />children slides, ladders, towers, water spray guns and much more. There is a large <br />deck with chairs and shade area for parents to stay cool. Potawatomi Pool has a kiddie <br />pool with a spray feature, a diving well, and the main pool is regulation size with a <br />water slide. <br /> <br />The East Race Waterway will open for rafting Saturdays & Sundays, starting June 12. <br />Saturday hours of operation are 12n -5:00 p.m., and Sunday hours are 1:00 p.m. – <br />5:00 p.m. This year there will also be a NEW climbing wall in place at the East Race <br />for those wanting a different challenge. <br /> <br />For more information on Parks & Recreation Department events, facilities, or programs, <br />call (574) 299-4765 or visit www.sbpark.org . <br /> <br />### <br /> <br />
