Gavin Ferlic <br />At Large Council Member <br />Chairperson, Committee of the Whole <br />Filed in Clerk's Office <br />UU4S! 110 <br />ZREEM; M FOWLER <br />CITY CLEIKS-OUTH BEND, IN <br />To: South Bend Common Council <br />The Office of the City Clerk <br />From: Council Member Gavin Ferlic, Community Investment Committee Chairperson <br />Date: December 21, 2016 <br />2016 Annual Report of the Community Investment Committee <br />Dear Common Councilmembers: <br />Pursuant to the requirements of § 2 -10(i) of the South Bend Municipal Code, I am filing this <br />Annual Report as the Chairperson of the Council's Community Investment Committee. <br />Duties: The Community Investment Committee "oversees the various activities of the <br />Department of Community Investment. It reviews all real, personal and residential tax <br />abatement requests." <br />Members: There were four (4) Council Members and two (2) citizen member this year <br />serving on the Committee, namely: <br />1. Gavin Ferlic, Chairperson <br />2. Regina Williams- Preston, Vice - Chairperson <br />3. Oliver Davis, Member <br />4. Randy Kelly, Member <br />5. William Smith, Citizen Member <br />6. Paul Tipps, Citizen Member <br />Meetings: Fifteen (15) public meetings were held this year. All Committee minutes and <br />notices have been posted on the Common Council's website. <br />The City of South Bend provides several opportunities and resources for resident and businesses <br />to relocate or expand within the City limits. The Business Toolkit depicted above provides a <br />summary of such programs and services. The majority of the committee meetings were <br />scheduled for the purpose of holding public hearings on special land use exceptions, tax <br />abatement petition requests, and to provide an advisory recommendation back to the South Bend <br />Common Council. The following list indicates some of the locations where either new <br />developments or expansions of existing properties, and the variety of developments which are <br />taking place in South Bend this year: <br />227 W.
