REGULAR MEETING <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session in the <br />Council Chambers, City Hall, May 10th, 1948, at 8:00 P.M., with all members present. President Niezgodski <br />presided at the meeting. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived. <br />CONMUNICATI ON <br />Mr. Clem Niezgodski <br />Council Chambers <br />City Hall <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />My dear Mr. Niezgodski: <br />May 10, 1946 <br />May I suggest to you and-the Honorable Members of the Common Council that an investigation be made of potential <br />sites for the dumping and depositing of refuse ordinarily accumulated on private property and City streets. <br />The Executive and Administrative officers of the City have come to the conclusion that numerous unsightly spots <br />within the =City limits can be eliminated if we can locate one or two new locations for the dumping of trash and <br />other debris. We believe that this is a logical conclusion or at least a step forward in the progress attempted <br />in making South Bend a cleaner municipality. <br />The personnel of your committee, individually and collectively, will have the cooperation of the proper depart- <br />ments within the Administration. <br />Trusting that this may have the support of the Common Council and assuring you of my cooperation in all things <br />that may work for the common good of the citizens of this corr=nity, I remain <br />GAS�em, <br />Respectfully, <br />GEORGE A. Motion carried. <br />PETITION <br />STATE OF INDIANA ) SS PETITION TO CHANGE ZONING <br />ST. JOSEPH COUNTY ) <br />TO THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND: <br />The undersigned, SOUTH BEND CURRENT CONTROLLER COMPANY, by its duly authorized officer, hereby and by these <br />presents petitions your Honorable Body and respectfully shows that it is the owner, in fee simple, of Lots 46 <br />and 47, Baker & McHenry's Addition to the City of South Bend that are now zoned as "B" Use District and "A" <br />Height and Area District. That said'Company is also the owner of Lots 48, 49, 50 and 51 of Baker & McHenry's <br />Addition to the City of South Bend that are zoned for "D" Use District and "E" Height and Area District, and <br />that they have heretofore constructed on Lots 48, 49, 50 and 51 a one -story brick and glass building, which <br />building fronts on North Side Boulevard, and your petitioners now petition your Honorable Body to change the <br />zoning of Lots 46 and 47, Baker & McHenry's Addition to the -City of South Bend from "B" Use .District and "A" <br />Height and frea District, to "D" Use District and "E" Height and Area District, and thereby to conform to Lots <br />48, 49, 50 and, 51 which are contiguous to and joins Lots 46 and 47. <br />Your petitioners further show that Lots 46 and 47, Balker & McHenry's Addition front on Roberts Avenue, each <br />Forty (40) feet, a total of eighty (80) feet, with a depth of 119.95 feet, and the south corner of Lot 46 is <br />284.7 feet from the North Side Boulevard. <br />Your petition®rs further request that this petition be referred to proper officials and be placed in the <br />appropriate channel for consideration of this petition. <br />Dated at South Bend, Indiana, this 28th day of April, 1948. <br />S E A L <br />STATE OF INDIANA ) SS <br />ST. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE COb1aITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />May 10, 1948 <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred an Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 966, adopted May 13, 1895, <br />entitled as a general codifying ordinance, by adding a new section thereon in reference to blocking of street <br />crossings by railroad train or cars to be known as Section 273 -1/2, and prescribing penalties. <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance go back to the <br />Committee of the Whole for public. hearing on July 12th, 19489 <br />STANLEY C.
