306 <br />II REGULAR MEETING MARCH 23. 1942 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session in the Council <br />Chambers, City Hall, March 23, 1942, at 8:32 P.M. with all members present except President William Pulaski. Vice - <br />president Hull presided. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived. <br />REPORT OF CQ&ITTEE OTT MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes would respectfully report that they have inspected <br />the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE CM1MITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common - Council of the City of South Bend: March 23, 1942 <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An Ordinance fixing the salaries of certain city officials and <br />employees of the City of South Bend, Indiana effective January 1, 1943 and repealing all ordinances and parts of <br />ordinances in conflict therewith." <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion the salary of the Deputy City Con- <br />troller shall be increased to $2400.00; the salary of the City Clerk shall be increased to $3000.00; the Mayor shall <br />receive $4,576.00; the City Controller shall receive $3168.00; the City Civil Engineer shall receive $3168.00; the <br />County Treasurer - Ex Officio City Treasurer shall receive $1200.00; the -City Judge shall receive $3168.00; members <br />of the Common Council -shall receive $500.00 each; the County Auditor for service to Civil City shall receive $264.00 <br />the City Attorney shall receive $3168.00. <br />Leo M. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3414 .(as amended) . <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING.THE SALARIES OF CERTAIN CITY OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1943 AND REPEALING ALL ORDIRIANCES AND PARTS <br />OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent (Pulaski). <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3415 <br />t <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN EASF.MENT FOR WAREHOUSE ERECTION BETWEEN <br />THE'GITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND THE WORK PROJECTS AJDAINISTRATION. <br />.The ordinance was given first and second reading. Upon the suggestion of City Attorney Levy, Councilman Niezgodski <br />made a motion for the suspension of rules. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call <br />vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent (Pulaski). The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote <br />of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent (Pulaski). <br />(ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING THE AMOUNT OF $16,000 FROM THE GENERAL, FUND OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA TO THE ACCOUNT OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF SAID CITY: <br />APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT FOR THE PURCHASE OF CERTAIN REAL ESTATE: DIRECTING.AND <br />AUTHORIZING THE PROPER OFFICERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND TO MAKE AND EFFECT THE <br />PURCHASE OF CERTAIN REAL ESTATE AT THE PRICE OF $16,000,; AUTHORIZING THE PROPER <br />OFFICERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BENTS TO ASSIGN SAID PROPERTY TO THE DEPARTMENT OF <br />PUBLIC PARKS OF SAID CITY FOR USE FOR PARK PURPOSES: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman Heideriian made a motion to refer the ordinance to the <br />Committee of the Whole for public hearing on April 13. Councilman Jordan seconded the motion.
