Talboom Deputy City Clerk <br /> Mary Beth Wisniewski Chief Deputy <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />REPORT FROM THE SUB-COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br /> <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: The sub-committee has inspected <br />the minutes of the September 27, 2010 meeting of the Council and the September 30, <br />2010 Special Meeting of the Council and found them to be correct. <br /> <br />Therefore, we recommend the same be approved. <br /> <br /> s/Derek D. Dieter <br /> s/David Varner <br /> <br />Councilmember Puzzello made a motion that the minutes of the September 27, 2010 <br />meeting of the Council and the September 30, 2010 Special Meeting of the Council of the <br />Council be accepted and placed on file. Councilmember Henry Davis seconded the <br />motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br /> <br />SPECIAL BUSINESS <br /> <br />SARA STEWART – RECAP FOR THE YEAR ON THE UNITY GARDENS <br /> <br />Sara Stewart, RN MSN, Executive Director Unity Gardens, P. O. Box 10022, South <br />Bend, Indiana, gave an update on the 2010 Unity Gardens. She stated that the Unity <br />Mission is to improve community health: Physically by increasing accessibility of fruits <br />and vegetables as well as providing education on nutrition and food preparation. Socially <br />by providing education, increased social capital and opportunities for the disadvantaged. <br />Economically by developing a sustainable local food system, recapturing food waste, <br />creating new jobs, and increasing per-capita productivity.
