SPECIAL MEETING SEPTEMBER 16 2009
The Board of Public Safety met in a special meeting at 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16,
2009, with President Juanita Dempsey and Board Members Patrick Cottrell, Bruce BonDurant,
and Eddie Miller present. Board Member Laura Vasquez was absent. Board Attorney Thomas
Bodnar was also present. Ms. Jennifer Corle, Engineering, was present in place of the Clerk of
the Board of Safety.
The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Conference Room, Room 1308, County-
City Building, South Bend, Indiana, 46601.

Due to the seriousness of the violations, Fire Chief Howard Buchanon recommended that
Firefighter First Class Jostes be suspended without pay for 30 calendar days.
President Dempsey stated the Board would accept the charges for filing and instructed the Cl
to prepare a letter to serve the Charges on Firefighter First Class Jostes. Upon a motion made
Mr. BonDurant, seconded by Mr. Cottrell and carried, the charges were accepted and filed. I
ADJOURNMENT
There being no farther business to come before the Board, President Dempsey declared the
meeting adjoumed at 8:25 a. m.
