Bill No. 18 -16 — Addressing Social Media and
Networking Policy
Chairperson Tim Scott called the meeting to order with one item to address. Chairperson Scott
went on to explain the bill as a repeal of an ordinance passed one year prior. He asked Council if
they had questions concerning the bill.
Councilmember Dave Varner clarified that this ordinance removes Council oversight of
member's social media pages and as result what members post to their page is at their own
discretion.
Chairperson Tim Scott confirmed that is correct and opened discussion up to the public.
There was no one to speak in favor or opposition of the bill.
Councilmember Dave Varner made a motion to send to Council favorably as proposed.
Councilmember Karen White seconded the motion which carried by a vote of three (3) ayes.
Chairperson Tim Scott thanked all in attendance and made an announcement regarding
upcoming iPad training.
With no further business before the committee, Chairperson Tim Scott adjourned the meeting at
4:04 p.m.
