• PERSONNEL AND FINANCE COMMITTEE JULY 27, 2009
Chairperson LaFountain called the July 27, 2009 meeting of the Personnel and Finance
Committee at 3:58 p.m.
Committee Members Present: Tom LaFountain, Chairperson; David Varner,. Vice-
Chairperson; Karen White; Oliver Davis
Other Council Members Present: Derek Dieter; Ann Puzzello; Tim Rouse; AI "Buddy"

Others Present: Rita Kopala; Martha Lewis; Tom Price; Kathy Cekanski-
Farrand; Paul Phair
Agenda: Bill No. 51-09 -Appropriation -General Fund #101 "All American City"
Chairperson LaFountain allowed Tom Price, Assistant to Mayor Luecke, to make the
presentation. Tom Price described the delegation of City Officials, civic leaders and others who
went to Tampa, FL in June to represent the city in their competition for South Bend to become a
designated "All-American City." Expenses for the effort amounted to nearby $38,000. This
resolution would allow appropriation of monies donated for the effort. Price provided a handout of
donors while emphasizing tax dollars were not being used for the campaign.
After brief discussion, Councilmember Varner motioned to go to Council favorably.
Councilmember Oliver Davis followed with a second and all approved.
There being no further business to come before the Committee at this time, Chairperson
LaFountain adjourned the meeting at 4:03 p.m.
