AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING 590,000 FROM THE URBAN
DEVELOPMENT ACTION GRANT FUND FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING
PREDEVELOPMENT COSTS
Statement of Purpose and Intent:
In order to assure the efficient and timely utilization of Urban Development Action
Grant Reimbursement Funds and to further the implementation of certain community
objectives, appropriations are needed:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of
South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
SECTION I. The sum of 590,000 is hereby appropriated within Fund 410 for
Predevelopment costs.
SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

The attached bill for your consideration and approval will appropriate $90,000.00 from
the repayments to the Urban Development Actions Grants program as the City's
contribution to a Predevelopment Furid. The fund will be used to pay for costs such as
preparation of site plans, appraisals, feasibility studies, title and survey work, preliminary
architecture and engineering work, planning, etc. necessary to move forward in certain
economic development projects. Specific projects include: Commercial Corridor Planning
(including Lincolnway West, LaSalle Square, and Western Avenue); Industrial Projects as
part of a business retention effort; Central Business District site plans; Rails-to-Trails
project planning; etc. as funds allow.
