AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $9,172.00 FROM THE
INDIANA RIVER RESCUE FUND
FOR THE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING EQUIPMENT
FOR THE INDIANA RIVER RESCUE TEAM
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
The City of South Bend through its Fire Department operates the Indiana River
Rescue Emergency Response Team, which contracts with the Indiana State Emergency
Management Agency to provide river rescue services throughout the State of Indiana and
elsewhere as directed by the State of Indiana.
To operate at full efficiency and best protect the public, the Indiana River Rescue
Emergency Response Team needs to purchase new equipment and update the equipment
currently in its possession.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY TH E COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:

The amount of $9,172.00 is hereby appropriated and ordered set apart from the
Indiana River Rescue Fund for the purpose of purchasing equipment and repairing its
current equipment.

This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the
Common Council and Approval by the Mayor.

Dear Mr. Coleman,
I am attaching for filing an ordinance appropriating $9,172.00 from the Indiana River Rescue
Fund (291) to purchase necessary equipment for the River Rescue Team.
The items we're requesting will upgrade and or replace equipment that is expected to get us
through 1998. This team conducts a minimum of two River Rescue classes per year at the East
Race that generates revenue for the fund. Funds are available in this account.
