City Clerk RESOLUTION NO. 3 ~ ~ 3-~~ A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, PUBLICLY COMMENDING JOHN ADAMS HIGH SCHOOL MOCK TRIAL TEAM A/K/A THE "LEGAL EAGLES" FOR WINNING THE 2046 MOCK TRIAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ~i~reaa, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is proud to recognize that more than sixty (60) schools from throughout the State of Indiana recently competed in regional mock trial competitions; and that the John Adams High School Mock Trial Team ultimately won the Mock Trial Indiana State Championship this marking the 6~' consecutive year in which a John Adams team emerged as the Indiana State Champion; and ~~eaa, the Council notes that mock trial is an extracurricular program where a fictitious case involves either criminal or civil allegations; and where mock trial team members compete in actual courtrooms & display their knowledge of procedure, debate and drama skills complete with witness statements, stipulations, exhibits, relevant law and jury instructions before judges; and C~l~~aa, the Council would especially like to publicly recognize that the 2006 John Adams High School Mock Trial Program is organized and sponsored by Judith Overmyer, a teacher at John Adams and local attorney Maggie Jones, their coach who have volunteered countless hours of their time in preparing this year's Indiana State Championship Mock Trial Team whose members include all juniors, namely: Claire Alvis Ethan Janson Margaret Mansfield Emily Wein Ryan Born Laura Jones Michael Smyth c~ora, c-~,~, Ge r.'t~oG~d, by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council hereby congratulates each and every member of the John Adams High School Mock Trial Team, along with their program's organizer and sponsor, Judith Overmyer and local attorney Maggie Jones, their coach for winning the 2006 Mock Trial State Championship and Section II. The South Bend Common Council believes that the hard-work, discipline, and dedication of the students on the John Adams High School Mock Trial Team has enabled each of these high school students to be excellent role models for all students throughout our country; and each team member has brought the highest of honors to themselves, their family and friends, John Adams High School, the South Bend Community School Corporation and all of the residents of the City of South Bend, Indiana. Section III . The Common Council wishes the John Adams High School Mock Trial Team, A/K/A The Legal Eagles, the very best as they represent the State of Indiana at the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in May. the D.
