Eddy St. improvement project wraps up this week
South Bend, IN: The city of South Bend is pleased to announce that the last segment of
the Eddy St. improvement project, between LaSalle and Jefferson, will be completed this
week. “The intersections at Eddy @ Colfax and Eddy @ LaSalle have been undergoing
traffic and safety improvements and will include dedicated left turns lanes for all four
directions, at both intersections,” stated Carl Littrell, City Engineer.
All work will be completed this week and the intersections should reopen by end of the
day Friday. Detours were taken down today, however, traffic restrictions will remain in
place for the next few days for final landscaping and work on the traffic lights. Eddy
Street should be fully operational by the weekend.
“These improvements are important to the upcoming realignment of State Road 23 at the
Corby/Eddy/ Streets (five-points) intersection just south of Eddy Street Commons,”
added Littrell. “In anticipation of more traffic on Eddy Street as a result of the
realignment the city is now prepared, with these updates at LaSalle and Colfax, to ensure
safe and smooth traffic flow through the area.”
