AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA, AMENDING THE SALARY ORDINANCE FOR NON-BARGAINING
EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND FOR CALENDAR YEAR 1999
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
The City's legislative body is required to fix the annual compensation of all employees of
the City of South Bend. Following are positions and rates of pay which were either omitted or
listed at incorrect amounts in the original Salary Ordinance as approved by this body in 1998.
The following correctly establishes the hourly/annual compensation for seven positions
for non-bargaining employees for the City of South Bend for calendar year 1999.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of South Bend,
Indiana, as follows:
Section I. The annual compensation for the following employees shall be:

Manager, Bureau Central Services $37,707.00 $38,932.00
Manager, Bureau Central Stores $37,707.00 $38,932.00
Chief Assistant City Attorney II $30,591.00
Maintenance Foreman II (Fire) $24,483.00
Section II. The hourly compensation for the following non-bargaining City of South
Bend employees for calendar year 1999 shall be as follows:

Custodian (Morns Civic) $7.53 $7.78
Park Police I $10.30 $10.63
Park Police II $10.74 $11.09
Section III. If any one or more of the provisions contained in this ordinance shall for any
reason be held to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable in any respect, such invalidity, illegality or
uninforceability shall not effect any other provision hereof, and this ordinance shall be construed
as if such invalid, illegal or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.
Section IV. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by
the Common Council, approval by the Mayor and legal publication.

Please find attached for filing an ordinance which amends the Salary Ordinance for non-
bargaining employees of the City of South Bend. Seven positions were either inadvertently
omitted or listed at an incorrect rate in the previously approved Salary Ordinance. This
ordinance serves to correct the previous oversights.
