Agenda: Bill No. 12-09 -Est. Fund #454 -AED/UEZ
Timothy Rouse, Chairperson, Community & Economic Development Committee chaired the joint
hearing with the Personnel & Finance Committee.
Under consideration was Bill No. 12-09 which would create a new fund for the deposit of excess
proceeds derived from parcels located in the Airport Economic Development Area that are also
located in the UEZ. Councilmember Rouse asked Beth Leonard, Director of Financial
Management of the Economic Development Department, to explain the purpose of the fund. Ms.
Leonard stated the fund would be used for job training programs and basic skill development for
residents and employers in the Urban Enterprise Zone.
After brief questions Henry Davis motioned, seconded by Councilmember Oliver Davis and
unanimous support the bill was sent to full Council favorably.
There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, Chairperson Rouse
adjourned the meeting at 5:40 p.m.
