The Board of Public Safety met in the Public Agenda Session at 8:07 a.m. on Friday, February 27,
2009 with President Juanita Dempsey and Board Members Patrick D. Cottrell, Bruce BonDurant
and Jack Reed present. Also present were Police Chief Darryl Boykins, Fire Chief Howard Buchanon
and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar.
The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 13"' Floor County City
Building, South Bend, Indiana.
The following items were added to that list:
- Police Department — Promotion of Corporal John Riddle to Sergeant
- Police Department — Promotion of Corporal Daniel Demler to Sergeant
- Police Department — Resignation of Patrolman David Klein
- Fire Department — Retirement
Chief Howard Buchanon stated that the date of the promotion of Pump Engineer Weinberg will be
effective February 27, 2009.
- Fire Department — Retirement
Chief Howard Buchanon stated that he wishes Captain Kenneth Hintz luck on his retirement.
There being no further business to come before the Board, President Dempsey declared the meeting
adjourned at 8:33 a.m.

REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 27 2009
The Board of Public Safety met in the regular meeting at 9:19 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27,
20099 with President Juanita Dempsey and Board Members Patrick Cottrell, Bruce BonDurant and
Jack Reed present. Also present were Police Chief Darryl Boykins, Fire Chief Howard Buchanon
and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar.
The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 13 )'h Floor, County City
Building, South Bend, Indiana.
President Dempsey advised that if there were no objections by members of the Board, the minutes of
the Public Agenda Session, Executive Session, and Regular meetings of the Board held on
February 4, 2009, would be accepted.
FILING OF MONTHLY STATISTICAL ANALYSIS REPORT — JANUARY 2009
Chief Howard Buchanon submitted to the Board the monthly report for the month of January 2009
compiled by the Prevention/Inspection Bureau of the Fire Department. Ms. Dempsey stated the
report would be accepted for filing,
