HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-06-15 AWC Meeting MinutesAnimal Control Commission Commission Members Present: Citizen Members Present: Council Members Present: Agenda: October 6', 2015 6:30 p.m. Emily Sexton, Earnest Galos, Betsy Culp SBACC Todd Howard Earnest calls meeting to order @ 6:33 p.m. New Business: Minutes from September accepted by present members. Todd- A few things: • If someone is a habitual animal offender but is found to have animal still, what would the commission recommend? • If owner is deemed to not own animals, does this include fish? • Person deemed habitual, does it tie to the property? What if the animal gets transferred to different owner (another person living in the same house)? Commission- Legal matter, would recommend following the ordinance and having SBACC pick up the animal, or offer an appeal Recommends adding this question along with other discrepancies to present to the council, amend section • Consult with Legal, more discussion Follow up- Earnest asks Todd for a Husky follow up. Todd states that SBACC is working on getting together a form, and that the notice has not yet been delivered. Earnest says the notice should be delivered immediately and by certified mail. The 3 members present and Todd Howard discuss that the commission should not be responsible for sending the certified mail. Since the offender has to comply within (7) days after the commissions determination, it is imperative that the notice be delivered asap. Ouestions- • Earnest- How many dogs are in the SBACC Shelter? • Todd- 8 -9 dogs and too many cats • Vaccine event turn out? • 300 rabies, 275 parvo, 50 spay /neuter Next meeting- Amending ordinance; being specific about "animal" defining what that means and if it includes fish, invite Randy Wilkerson from Code to next meeting, Todd Howard and SBACC Officers work on compiling a list of things that need re- wording or changed in the ordinance. Todd will start a list and talk to Matt Harmon about it as well. Adjourned- 0 6:58 p.m. • Next meeting: November 3rd @ 6:30 p.m.
