Hearing
Ernest calls meeting to order, explains the way the hearing will go.
Case 1: Oberlin, 132 Victoria St.
5 -38 a, 5 -43 b
1st witness: Todd Howard, assistant shelter manager, 1 % years
-10 -15 calls on pit bull Terrior
** *5:40 p.m. Mr. Oberlin curses and exits the hearing * **
- Posted AWA within 4 -years
- 2/7/15 responded to aggressive dog scene, was charged by dog, repeatedly tried
attacking, Todd had to resort to getting into his vehicle, the dog continued to attack the
vehicle until it finally retreated. Todd was able to then get the dog with a stick.
- aware of 2 other incidences with 2 other officers
-dog had to be sedated (not harmed)
- the animal is said to escape through a window in the house
- recommending labeling dog potentially dangerous and habitual animal offender
- this dog is in the top 5 most aggressive dogs Todd has ever dealt with

Case 2: Taylor, 620 Howard St.
Nerlene fails to appear.
1st witness: Officer Kolbie Singleton, SBACC Officer, 10 months
-Been to property multiple times
-Many calls from the police and public
- Public calls are 50% regarding running at large
-Not violent
- Issued multiple citations & alerts
-6 citations
-7 warnings
-He talked to Nerlene Taylor many times and she didn't seem to understand what the
problem was. She is around 40 years old.
-The most "solid response" he ever received from Nerlene was "I'll pray for the dog."
-He goes over and thoroughly explains why she is getting warnings and citations
- Nerlene lets the dog out of his kennel so he can go to the bathroom and "go on a walk ".
-Dog is about 5 years old
-Dog has been impounded 3 x's
- Violations after Aug. 2014

SBACC is requesting the animal be deemed potentially dangerous
Limit, revoke, or prohibit ownership for 5+ years
Sweet dog, just had terrible living conditions

Commission Deliberation:
Case 1: Oberlin,
Effective Immediately:
-Check on former ordinance
- declared potentially dangerous
- rights to animal were waived because Mr. Oberlin left the hearing, per 5 -38 (a) 6.
- habitual offender
-no ownership for 7 years
Case 2: Taylor,
- Effective immediately
- banned from owning dogs for 5 years
-SBACC will take custody of the dog
+Next meeting: get old ordinance Ch. 5, amending timeline to include violations that were written
before new ordinance?
