HomeMy WebLinkAboutagenda item 2016 0114 rdc 07a1ITEM: 7.A.(1) RESOLUTION NO. 3324 F., "t 00 -tu L[eWre 11 ►1 ; ► CHRIS FIELDING FOR EXTRAORDINARY SERVICE TO THE SOUTH BEND COMMUNITY AND SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION WHEREAS, Chris Fielding is a committed community leader who has served the Greater South Bend region in various capacities for over a decade; and WHEREAS, Chris spent three of those years (2013 thru 2015) as the Assistant Director of Community Investment for the City of South Bend and worked closely with the Redevelopment Commission; and WHEREAS, during service to our community, Chris worked tirelessly to establish a level of professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to customer service in the City's business development activities; and WHEREAS, Chris applied great ingenuity and persistence in seeking pragmatic solutions to complex problems within any particular development project, department operations or broadly with matters in the community; and WHEREAS, Chris's attitude helped to establish a new culture within the Department and helped the Community Investment team obtain an unprecedented volume of deals to support job creation and investment in the community, with over 2,500 new-jobs announced and $364 million in private investment during his tenure; and WHEREAS, Chris played a pivotal role as catalyst for projects with substantial community impact such as: the Notre Dame Turbomachinery Lab, Nello Manufacturing campus and the Noble Americas Ethanol Plant and the redevelopment of the key assets such as the LaSalle Hotel, College Football Hall of Fame, Chase Tower, and JMS building; and, WHEREAS, Chris always pushed organizations and individuals to do more than they thought that they could do and make them happy with the result; and WHEREAS, Chris was able to relate to a wide array of people in our community— sharing his vision and passion for what could be; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the South Bend Redevelopment Commission hereby honors Chris Fielding for his extraordinary commitment and distinguished service to the City of South Bend; thanks him for the outstanding contributions he has made; and declares it will sincerely miss his diligent work in the community.
