HomeMy WebLinkAboutRecommending that the city Administration Appropriate as much as $56,000 for Specialized Transportation System (STS) for 1982 Calendar Year RESOLUTION NO. 927-81 Passed by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana November 23, r9 81 Attest City Clerk Attest: La 6111C=C President of Common Council Presented by me to the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana November 30 ig 81 City Clerk Approved and signed by me z9 Mayor RESOLUTION NO. 4 ai -g1 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY ADMINIS- TRATION APPROPRIATE AS MUCH AS $56, 000 FOR SPECIALIZED TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM (STS) FOR THE 1982 CALENDAR YEAR WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recognizes that the authority to appropriate funds rests solely with the City Administration; and WHEREAS, the Common Council has been requested by Specialized Transportation System (STS) for funds so that they may survive during the 1982 calendar year; and WHEREAS, the Common Council has learned that STS is the only paratransit system providing service to disabled persons unable to ride or use conventional public transportation; and WHEREAS, the Common Council recognizes that $15, 000 of Community Development funds were used to assist STS in 1981 and that the City is well below the ten percent (10%) maximum of all Community Development Funds which could be used for public service activities; and WHEREAS, the Common Council believes that such an activity as STS should be a priority among the 1982 Community Development funded Public Service activities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I. The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recommends that the City Administration appropriate as much as $56, 000.00 to help meet the immediate survival needs of Specialized Transportation System (STS) for the 1982 calendar year. SECTION II . The Common Council further represents that it is willing to assist STS in whatever forum to achieve long term funding for it in future years of service to the community. SECTION III .
