RESOLUTION NO. 1008-82
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENORATING
THE MANY CONTRIBUTIONS MADE TO OUR COMMUNITY
BY THE LATE ALEX M. ANDRZEJEWSKI
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend,
Indiana, notes with sincere sadness, the passing of one of its
finest and dedicated citizens, Alex M. Andrzejewski; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council recognizes with pride the
thirty (30) years which he served on the South Bend Fire Department,
twelve (12) of which were served as Fire Chief under Mayors Edward
F. Voorde and George A. Schock; and
WHEREAS, the Council notes that during his tenure as Fire
Chief he built the Fire Department into "one of the finest. . . in
the country" ; and
WHEREAS, the late Alex M. Andrzejewski also served with
distinction as the Indiana Toll Road Safety Director, and Bailiff
to the St. Joseph County Circuit Court since 1969 , and served in
countless memberships and positions of leadership in benevolent
societies throughout our Community; and
WHEREAS, the sincerity and loyal dedication which the late
Alex M. Andrzejewski brought to the Fire Fighting Profession and all
of the many activities which he enjoyed and participated in, are
just part of the rich legacy which our Community will long remember.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the
City of South Bend, Indiana as follows :
SECTION I. On behalf of the citizens of South Bend, Indiana,
the Common Council hereby publicly commemorates the late Alex M.
Andrzejewski , for a full life filled with dedicated service to the
Fire Fighting Profession and to the South Bend Community where he
touched so many lives.
SECTION II. The Common Council expresses its deepest
sympathy to Mrs. Alex M. Andrzejewski and her family, and sincerely
hopes that the rich and bountiful memories of her husband will help
brighten the days ahead.
SECTION' III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
after passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.
