Agenda: Update on Public/Private Park Endeavors
The PARC Committee chaired by Dr. Fred Ferlic,with all members present,was called to order by Dr.
Ferlic who in the interest of time abbreviated any lengthy presentation. He updated everyone on his
efforts to forge partnerships with groups who would accept the responsibility of helping to maintain
their adopted park. He cited the progress made at Kelly Park on the northeast side in his district as well
as that of the Boy Scouts adopting Frederickson Park. The potential of Memorial Hospital contributing
to the beautification of Leeper Park was also cited as a good example of the benefit derived from these
partnerships.
Derek Dieter voiced some skepticism based upon the short-lived success of similar alliances that were
difficult to sustain. Overall,however, he was supportive.
Parks Commissioner Phil St. Clair was present to offer support for Dr. Ferlic's effort.
Dr. Ferlic in closing, pledged to continue to promote the partnership concept.
Dr. Ferlic adjourned at 5:37 P.M.
